Default Anarchic-x Base Assault MOD



Yes, it's true! Base Assault for Call of Duty: World at War has finally arrived! It's been 1 year in development & even longer in planning. But it's finally ready to be called Beta 1.0!

So, why has it taken so long? The Anarchic-x Base Assault mod isn't just a port of the UO BAS gametype, it's a complete rewrite of the code, including new features not included in the UO version, new methods for existing features, bug fixes and fine tuning to our liking. Not to mention the maps! The maps available as of now are:

mp_ax_ardennes - a port/update of one of the more popular UO BAS maps by Drecks from After Hourz (by Rollin Hard)
mp_ax_farm - a brand new map built for WaW BAS (by Cornrow Wallace)
mp_ax_ponyri - a complete rebuild/update of the UO BAS map by GMI (by Cornrow Wallace)


Included in the mod are unarmored vehicles by Zeroy, including Panzer IV (including a Flame variant), T34 (also including a Flame variant) and Sherman tanks. These vehicles are modified to run much smoother than the stock WaW vehicles. They don't have all the extra armor that makes then nearly impossible to destroy, they are fast moving and most importantly, they are finally fun to use!

In addition to all the bells & whistles, many "behind the scenes" fixes have been made to stock game files. Most of which the casual player will never notice, but provided great problems during development of this mod. While these aren't obvious to most players, it's definitely a noteworthy task, as some of these fixes were contributing factors to the seemingly never ending delays. Also worthy of stating is that this beta 1.0 release is the bare bones of what the Anarchic-x BAS mod will be. We've gotten the mod to a playable state and will continue to update it for a long time, including many features from the very popular anarchicBas mod for UO.

Great job to you & Rollin! You guys have recaptured the excitement & great action we had in UO. We are looking forward to firing up a couple of BAS servers as soon as you guys are ready to release the server files.

How to:
  • download the axbasUpdater_setup.exe
  • doubleclick this file after the download finished
  • install this software as usual and create a Dektop icon & startmenu folders
  • doubleclick the new shortcut(anarchicbas_updater.exe)
  • click the "update" button once and wait until its done
  • check your application data folders if all new files exists(optional)
  • simply uninstall by hit the windows start button, select the "Anarchic-X Base Assault Updater" startmenu folder and select "remove/uninstall"

  • temporary fix for a server script error with the vehicles
  • fixed script error for the definition of the teams(announcer function)
  • removed scope overlay from the DemonMod
  • added "sway" to the scoped M1-Garand
  • modified & moved the spawnremover to the "breached" event of the bases
  • added UO victorysounds for the roundwinnner
  • added the UO quickcommands and mixed them into 3 groups(we're limited to 3 menu groups)
  • added mp_ax_bastogne version 1.1
  • added the new conversion mp_ax_bocage

The explanation is this: While there are a few contributors, the core team is RollinHard and myself. Rollin handles all the coding, file management, mapping and server maintenance, while I share in the mapping and try to keep community interest with posts on forums like this, twitter & youtube.

We've been working on this mod with a "lets see what happens" mentality, because we were never really sure it would work well with this game engine. Initially our plan wasn't to make this a released mod, but as more and more people were asking we decided we would release it in some way at some point.

Right now we're still fixing bugs and adding new maps to the mod. We've had countless offers to host servers for us, but right now we just don't have the time to put everything aside to write up tutorials on how to set it up then do tech support for all the server admins who are having problems.

So I can't really say WHEN we'll release server files, only that it's on the list with about 10,000 other things before it.

And if that makes us selfish, Mike Nomad, then consider us a couple of selfish mother****ers for not releasing a half finished product, which is what you're constantly up IW's ass about.

I guess that line explains it all.

As far as giving other Admins server support, there are many of us that will do just fine with the mod config file along with the required mod files.

Offering the mod to others may even help you with some quick fixes and solving problems.

But hey, it's your mod and if you just want to populate your own servers that's certainly your business but like Mike Nomad stated, our gaming modding/mapping community is about sharing. It doesn't sound like that's what you have in mind.

Hopefully I'm wrong, but 10,000 others things before ?????

It's obvious your opinion is formed and nothing I can say will change it, so I'll leave it alone.

For those who genuinely enjoy Base Assault and are more interested in playing it than dealing with the politics, our World at War Base Assault server is still online and a new update is in the works. 2 new map previews (including Foy) are posted at Anarchic-x.com.

As Mike said: We are in it (COD gaming, mapping & modding) for the community
And we are more than willing to help, any way we can!

But even you will have to admit that is gonna be rather impossible if we have no access to the serverside files & config files of your mod.

That is what we are saying.

If you want to develop the mod on your own, go right ahead (and make that absolutely clear!!!). But bear in mind, that is something that goes against the way the community is accustomed to.

Whichever path you chose, please keep us informed & updated. I for one hope that you will consider releasing a 'Beta' of the mod.

One would think, speaking for myself...

Lets say a good few weeks of hosting the game would shied light on any big issue(s) you might have with the mod. Then if is all is pretty good, release a beta. Support and fixes could come out at your leisure and I'm sure we'd all have the patients to let you sort it out. The community would have been jumping for joy.

Maybe they didn't want their stuff incorporated into your stuff or just getting ripped off.

Ever hear of the Black Monkeys' mod called Star Wars. That is good example.

I'm sure they weren't trying to sway players...could they. I jess.

By "politics" I mean admins who are more concerned with running a mod than actually playing it. We have plenty of outside people (many from After Hourz and CUF, for example) who would like to run the mod, but are at least happy to have it available to them.

Show me where I've insulted anyone. I find it a huge compliment that some people like the mod enough to want to host it, I don't find that offensive at all, nor am I angered by the offers. Believe it or not I didn't come here to pick a fight with the users of RGN. In the beginning I avoided this forum because I didn't care for certain people associated with it. I changed my mind when I started talking to Zeroy and decided to post about our projects here. Why would I intentionally pick fights with your members? My only interest here is to talk about the Bas mod, not fighting with random people I've never met.

I think this comes as no surprise as I discussed it before with you CW. I told you this would happen as of course the Base Assault mod is a great mod! Just like the Star Wars Mod for COD4 server Admin want to host it - Having just one server in the US does not help spreading the mod popularity i guess and can be frustrating for Server Admin...

I helped on some items in this mod and this was also in the optic that the mod would be made available to all for hosting at some point - something that, as you said it CW, will be done at some point in the future.

I have no problem in closed beta test as you are doing right now and i think this all argument started on your first reply:

Nice. I'll save myself the time and not post future updates here then.
To be fair this was uncalled for as I can relate to BK in the sense that a mod released but that a server admin cannot run on his servers for his members is useless.

I have been dealing with you CW and Rollin for a while now and would hate to see this relation gone over a bad post on this forum.

My advice? As the BM for the SW Mod, release a Beta version with a few maps so everyone can not only enjoy but also spread the mod and report bugs. Now in its version 1.2 it is quite stable from what i can see and the maps are great.

If its a fear of plagiarism you are thinking of then i wouldnt worry, CODWaW is on the down slope now and if anything releasing the mod to all would bring back some life in the game we all like to play!
